Welcome to the Tour de Skunk, 2008
The Tour de Skunk is a train and mountain bike adventure through the Redwoods of Jackson State Forest on the peaceful and scenic Mendocino Coast. You will leave Fort Bragg aboard the Skunk Train on a 21 mile steam train excursion along the Noyo River. At Camp Mendocino you will be matched up with your bikes and begin a five mile climb to the first refreshment break at Indian Springs. Here you can take a small break before starting the long 10 mile descent to the river.
After riding across a redwood log bridge to the “Egg Taking Station” you will enjoy a lunch of BBQ Chicken or Vegeterian meal, Organic Salad and Bread. Continuing from here is an 11 mile ride beside the river with a gentle two mile climb of 300 feet. Arriving at Fort Bragg, you can reward yourself after a long day in the forest by sampling one of the many fine dining and beverage establishments on the Mendocino Coast.
The $85 entry fee includes: Bike tour, Train ticket, bike transport, and lunch!
